On Wednesday 15th November 2017, five of us – new VVEs – were invited to the training prepared by VolCam members UNV and VSO. The purpose of the training was to get to know each other with other VolCam members and to provide guidelines of working with Volcam.

From this training, I learned about the motivation behind the creation of VVE, which was to support other organizations and encourage youth to participate in volunteer work. I also realized that the youth will learn social work and how they can help society as Cambodian youth through volunteering work. Having volunteering experience will help them in their study, career, and even their entire life. I myself used to participate the Volunteerism and Youth Employment project with UNV. I worked as a data collector about information on the project. I learned a lot about how to collect reliable information, which made me good at finding useful information in my daily life. As well as self-improvement, volunteer work will benefit the whole society. Thus, volunteer work will benefit volunteers as well as the whole society.

At the end of the training, we set our slogan as “One World, One Goal.” Based on the slogan, we will contribute to promoting volunteerism as Cambodian youth and make our society better. I hope to see more Cambodia youth doing volunteer work with passion. Keep following us to find out how we will achieve our mission!
