Community Action Challenge training

In 2017 VolCam network has decided to encourage people in Cambodia to seek the problems in their communities, design the solution and apply for our Community Action Challenge 2017 grant. We have received many great ideas, but only some could be supported. After the careful evaluation of received applications, VolCam has selected 7 teams to receive our guidance and 150 USD grant. First step to successful realization of the projects is the training for team leaders prepared by VolCam members. Representatives from selected 7 teams of #CommunityActionChallenge2017 were invited to training camp on October 10th hosted by VSO Cambodia and prepared by UN Volunteers, AIESEC and VSO. The main goal of the training was to help teams to successfully implement their solution. Therefore we have equipped them with knowledge on how to run a project, how to manage a budget and how to promote the results.

Community Action Challenge trainingAt the beginning, team leaders were given a written feedback to find out what could be improved about their projects. Based on this, they brushed up their ideas through following activities: project management training, group discussion and finance training. At the end, team leaders presented their revised plans for the community improvement to other participants. Equipped with feedback and new knowledge, volunteer team leaders showed that they were prepared to move to the next step. All teams were so active, responsible, and eager to make their community better and VolCam members are already looking forward to seeing how their talents will flower!

The CommunityActionChallenge2017 initiative is supported by UN Volunteers and by EZECOM. Our big thanks go to all the members of the CAC working group, namely AIESEC Cambodia, Cambodia Youth Action, France Volontaires, Habitat for Humanity Cambodia, UN Volunteers Cambodia, VSO Cambodia and Youth Star Cambodia.
