VolCam is organizing a ‘Community Action Challenge 2016’ that will lead up to the upcoming International Volunteer Day. International Volunteer Day is celebrated globally every year to raise awareness about the positive impact that volunteers have on their country’s development.
This year, VolCam challenged active citizens to think of a local problem, and find a solution that they can implement with a group of volunteers, through a small project. VolCam will offer support and seed funding for selected projects to realize their plans, and invite them to share their experiences during the International Volunteer Day on 2nd – 3rd December, 2016.
In total, VolCam has received 19 project proposals that were focusing on various interesting topics. From those, 8 project were selected and invited to an Orientation session in Phnom Penh in order to give them advice and assistance in order to implement their projects ideas into action.
The selected projects are:
- Community Football Green Field
- Raksa – Awareness-raising on drainage System
- Repairing an existing road in Kraing Serei Community Forestry
- Community Revitalization
- Literacy for GenZ
- Health Unity – raise awareness on dental care and first aid
- How to use chemical substances on agricultural products safely and effectively
- Community mobile library
The selected projects will take place in: Phnom Penh, Battambang, Kampong Speu and Kandal provinces.
